Partridges up for Sale

Partridges, 60 High Street, Hadleigh

Local Estate Agents Chapman Stickles have begun marketing the sale of the much beloved Partridges store in Hadleigh.

Partridges is the physical as well as metaphoric heart of Hadleigh, and it is hoped that a buyer may be found who will maintain the institution in some perhaps modified form.   The current owners enlisted Wincer Kievenaar to produce a scheme which would maintain the original listed buildings along the High Street, and find ideas to improve the rear of the site along Magdalen Road.

The concept is for three new blocks around a new pedestrianised thoroughfare which would link between George Street and the rear of the Co-op.  Each block would provide small street level shops for start-up businesses, and residential apartments at first and second floor level.  By providing a new public route, benches and trees, the scheme aims at providing new civic value and space to replace what is being lost.
