Planning Submitted for Library Extension at Newmarket Academy

May 17, 2018

A prestigious project for a new library extension has been submitted for planning permission with Forest Heath District Council.  The scheme for Newmarket Academy will create a new multifunctional first floor space and aims to inspire children and teachers alike to promote reading and literacy.

The design features a terraced seating area connecting the existing library to a new first floor, which will allow future seminar presentations to be held.  An undercroft area minimises disruption to existing circulation routes across the school, providing a social gathering space along with the possibility for outdoor classroom use in the summer months.

We worked closely with Headmaster Nick Froy and Academy librarians to create a modern and light space which would be engaging and stimulating to its students.
