Planning Approval granted in Polstead

September 22, 2021

Planning approval has been granted for the refurbishment & extensions to a detached dwelling (non-designated heritage asset) in Polstead.

The appearance of the proposed extensions aims to reflect the nature of the site and its surroundings in architectural appearance, use and setting. The design although subservient to the existing, provides a simple contemporary design depicting the age of build, providing differentiation between the phases of history.

The construction of the feature double gable aims to make the most of the scenic countryside and views, whilst also retaining and exposing an expanse of the existing rear elevation. The large sliding doors open the living space onto a patio creating a flow between inside to outside.

Use of high insulation values along with a combination of integrated photovoltaic panels and an air source heat pump helps to assist the dwelling in becoming sustainable for future years.
