Public Consultation for Spring Meadow

We’re bringing forward early ideas for a new neighbourhood at Spring Meadow and we want to be open about why, and what we believe it could mean for the village if done well.

There is a genuine national need for more homes, and Babergh District Council has identified that villages like Hintlesham will need to play a part as reflected in the village’s neighbourhood plan. But the real question isn’t simply where development happens – it’s how it happens, and what it brings with it.

At Spring Meadow, we see an opportunity to do something positive and create a place that strengthens Hintlesham, rather than simply adding to it.

We understand that proposals like this can feel unsettling.  Concerns about traffic, pressure on services, and the impact on village character and views are entirely valid, and they deserve clear, straightforward answers.  This consultation is an opportunity to ask those questions.

The early ideas we’ll be sharing explore how new homes could be delivered alongside meaningful benefits, including:

• Safer, more connected walking and cycling routes linking Duke Street to George Street and to the surrounding countryside
• Expanded and more usable green spaces, shaped around how people actually live
• Genuine biodiversity improvements, with new habitats and landscape planting
• A balanced mix of homes, including affordable options for local people and families with connections to the village

These are early concepts, not final plans. This is the start of a conversation.
